Classic Car Addict presents this 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster V8. The E-Type (ok, XKE if you stick to the USA designation) is the icon that tops many lists of the most beautiful car ever produced. Jaguar wanted to utilize the strength of the racing-inspired monocoque chassis. Today you can see that on this example that remains solid with doors you can still shut with authority. But form outshines the function on this car. Even with today's modern metal practices, it is nearly impossible to duplicate the mixture of aggressive deign with gentle curves on this boutique classic. As a desirable Series II car, it comes with all those delicate touches that made it an icon – the petite oval opening at the front, uninterrupted side lines, and the thin chrome bumpers that hug the body and then add in that aggressive deep sound of a Ford 302ci 5.0L engine attached to a ford 3-speed C4 and you are ready to tear up the streets in style. Take some time to really look this one over because all the delicate and expensive details are complete on this one. Beneath the black folding roof is a shiny red paint and the black interior that coordinates nicely with the exterior. The newer roof gives this iconic roadster a fresh feeling on the inside. And this is furthered by door panels and a dash that present just as nicely. This does have the original AM/FM stereo. Besides comfort, it feels great when you grab the iconic wood-rimmed steering wheel and a chrome shifter. Beyond this is a full set of Smiths gauges to keep you focused on those trips down the backroads. Tilt the clamshell hood (bonnet) forward, and check out this Jag's motor. For drivers, the Series II cars are really the ones to own. This one even went a step further and added the larger Ford 5.0 liter 302. It provides deep reserves of torque that is very responsive and the recently rebuilt Holley carburetor will keep this power delivery reliable for years to come. The suspension is an unsurpassed combination of handling and ride comfort and the E-Type benefits from the innovative independent rear suspension with inboard disc brakes for reduced weight. The dual exhaust system sounds spectacular and chrome wire wheels are genuine knock-offs with grippy good tread on the tires. You know how valuable a numbers-matching, complete XKE is worth. That's why you know how good a deal this one is comparably, and how quick you're going to need to be to grab it. Call today, 480-256-1459.
