*Offered with Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the Jaguar XK150 is undeniably one of the world’s fastest and safest cars. It is quiet and exceptionally refined mechanically, docile and comfortable… we do not know of any more outstanding example of value for money.” – The Autocar. What would turn out to be the final glorious incarnation of Jaguar’s fabulous ‘XK’ series of sports cars arrived in 1957. As its nomenclature suggests, the XK150 was a progressive development of the XK120 and XK140, retaining the same basic chassis, 3.4-liter engine, and four-speed Moss transmission of its predecessors while benefiting from a new, wider body that provided increased interior space and improved visibility courtesy of a single-piece wrap-around windscreen, replacing the XK140’s divided screen. Cleverly, the new body used many XK120/140 pressings, the increased width being achieved by means of a 4?-wide central fillet. A higher front wing line and broader radiator grille were other obvious differences, but the new model’s main talking point was its Dunlop disc brakes. Fade following repeated stops from high speed had been a problem of the earlier, drum-braked cars, but now the XK had stopping power to match its prodigious straight-line speed. Introduced in the spring of 1957, the XK150 was available at first only in fixed and drophead coupe forms, the open roadster version not appearing until the following year. At 190bhp, the standard 3.4-liter engine’s maximum power output was identical to that of the XK140, so performance was little changed. Overdrive and a Borg-Warner automatic gearbox were the transmission options, the latter becoming an increasingly popular choice, while a Thornton Powr-Lok limited-slip differential was available for the XK150S.This stunning example was completed at Jaguar’s Browns Lane, Coventry works in July of 1958, this exceptional XK150 was built as a top-of-the-line Drophead Coupe version and configured for the North American market as a left-hand drive example. The XK150 was finished in a stealth black exterior, fitted with a red Connolly interior and a black convertible top.Distributed through Jaguar Cars of New York, the car’s first owner is believed to have been a dentist from San Mateo, California. The elegant XK150 was later purchased by a Napa, California resident, before being acquired by the third owner, who would keep the car for over two decades. This gentleman began a comprehensive restoration, during which every effort was made to make the XK150 Drophead Coupe an absolute showstopper. When the work was completed in 2008, the freshly restored Jaguar was brought out to the show circuit with great success and was soon awarded Best in Class and Judges Choice at JCNA events. The car was sold to the fourth owner in 2009, who kept the car until recently, proudly displaying it in his climate-controlled collection.
Finished in the period-correct Imperial Maroon over a biscuit Connolly interior and Wilton carpets, this XK150 Drophead Coupe looks incredibly elegant and appropriate. The light tan convertible top and top boot gives a great contrast to the car’s exterior color, while its exquisite chrome and brightwork adds the right amount of pizzazz. This XK150 still retains its matching-numbers engine block, but the cylinder head appears to have been replaced at some point. A great entry to rallies and driving events, this Jaguar would be equally at home on a Concours lawn.

Slinky, sultry and dressed in red, this 2008 Jaguar XK Convertible makes a lot of compelling arguments about why it should go home with you.
Made in January 2008 in Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, England factory, this cat is all dolled up in Salsa (code CHA). The paint and trim look great overall. The trunk is very tidy. The tan, power-folding, cloth top looks great and has a rear glass window with defroster. It takes just 18 seconds for the top to come up or go down. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is very tidy and the integrated, body-colored bumpers with foglights up front fit tightly to the body.
This lithe cat rolls on Bridgestone Potenza radials, size 245/40R19 in front and 275/35R19 in back. Each tire is mounted to a factory chrome, five-spoke alloy wheel. The wheels are in excellent shape, while the tires are in very good shape.
Under the forward-hinged hood is a 4.2L DOHC 32-valve V-8 engine (code AJ34) with variable valve timing, Bosch direct fuel injection 10.5:1 compression ratio and breathing via dual exhausts. Backing up this motor is a ZF six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters (code 6HP626) and a 3.31:1 rear end. Driver convenience features are plentiful – Dual zone automatic climate control, power rack-and-pinion steering, power, four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power sideview mirrors, power front seats with memory, factory navigation, keyless entry, pushbutton start/stop and an electronic parking brake.
Safety equipment includes dual front airbags, side airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, emergency brake assist and anti-slip regulation (ASR).
Inside, you can wallow in the luxurious ambience of the car’s Caramel leather interior (code SEP). The front buckets and rear demi-buckets are all in very good overall shape and upholstered in Connolly leather. Beneath, there is a matching Wilton wool carpet. A three-spoke steering wheel frames the gauge binnacle. The inner door panels and dash are all in very good order. The center console and shift lever look great. The shifter has Jaguar’s Sequential Shift and J-gate gear selector. A factory infotainment system completes the interior.
The X150's design was completed in 2002 and was previewed by Advanced Lightweight Coupé (ALC) which was first seen at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. The designer, Ian Callum, was also responsible for the Aston Martin DB7 and Vanquish grand tourers. The X150's grille is inspired by that of the 1961 E-Type.
Introduced in the market in 2006, the X150 has a bonded and riveted aluminum monocoque chassis shared with the XJ and uses an all-aluminum construction. The X150 was the second Jaguar automobile assembled at the newly acquired Castle Bromwich plant alongside the XJ saloon. The X150, as compared to the X100 is 2.4 inches wider and 6.4 inches longer. It is also 200 pounds lighter than the X100 due to its aluminum construction resulting in performance and fuel consumption improvements.
The 4.2-litre V-8 engine was carried over from its predecessor and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission manufactured by ZF Friedrichshafen. A notable feature on the interior was steering column mounted shift paddles for easier gear changes.
Competition to this Jag convertible in 2008 included Audi’s S4 Cabriolet, BMW’s 630i Cabrio, Cadillac’s XLR, Lexus’ SC 430, Mercedes-Benz’s SLK 350, Nissan’s 350Z Roadster, Pontiac’s Solstice GXP, Porsche’s 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet and Saturn’s Sky Red Line.
This modern cabriolet has less than 65,000 miles on it and is in need of a new home. If you’re a Jaguar fan or you’d just like a summer cruisemobile, stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today and see if this cat is right for you.
